Can you get rich quickly online?

It hard to prove a negative, but from all that I have seen, it probably is not.

There are many programs on the internet for making money. Some are greatly exaggerated. Others are downright scams. Some are illegal.

It is possible to make a reasonable amount of money on the internet, but it takes work, effort, time, and patience.  Read about how ->>

On this site I will discuss various scheme, such as multiple level marketing (MLM), Pay to do something (surf, read e-mail, take polls, etc.), as well as a way that can work, publishing content, advertising, and selling your own writing.

Real Internet Work

Of course, if you want to make money, are interested in the internet, and are willing to work, the best way is to get a real job. Become an employee of some business related to the internet, such as service providers, web site design and hosting firms, cable installers, etc. If you have experience with web site design, and particularly if you have skills in graphic design and advertising, you could work for any business as a webmaster in charge of their web site.

But these are real jobs. They pay salaries and require you to work, usually at their office and on their time schedule. To get the jobs you must have the required skills and experience and will have to compete with others for the jobs.

If you want to "become your own boss", "get rich", "work from your own home at your own hours", etc., this site is for you.

Types of online earning schemes

Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)

MLM sales plans are far older than the internet. In the traditional MLM model there are a large number of sales people (each an independent business person, not an employee) who sell products to the public. These sales people are recruited by existing sales people who become the second level. Likewise there may be a third or more levels. Each level shares in the sales commission for the lower levels. The way to success in an organization is not spending your time calling on homes selling products but recruiting people to work in the level below you.

Some MLM plans can succeed. The advantage of MLM is that it allows a company to build a very large sales force that can make personal calls on customers to discuss or demonstrate products. However, for people whose ambition is to rise to the upper levels of the chain, with a large "downline" (lower levels that actually do the selling), there may be disappointment. There are only a certain number of people who want to spend their time calling on their friends and neighbors selling products. Once all of these people have joined an MLM organization, the source of new members of the bottom level dries up. If you get into the organization late, it may not be possible to rise to the higher levels. Your income will then come only from your own sales.

In the earlier days of MLM, the sales people would use personal contact to make sales. With the internet, some MLM organizations sell through the web. Each member is given a personal web page in the larger organization's web site. The sales person would give a prospective customer the address of the site; the customer can then enter a name or number to arrive at the salesperson's page and place an order.

MLM or Pyramid Schemes

A pyramid scheme is a variation on the MLM model. A true, legitimate MLM scheme pulls money from the sales of products to willing customers and spreads the money over several levels. In a pyramid scheme the new recruits pay money to join. This money is then spread over the upper levels or goes only to the highest level. As long as new people are joining, money is flowing into the organization and those on the upper levels will easily make back their investment, and far more. However, sooner or later, like the MLM organizations, the organization will run out of new recruits. The money stops flowing. Those who recently joined will not receive even their initial investment back. The cost to join will be in the form of an entry fee or a purchase of supplies for "sales demo purposes". A legitimate MLM organization will continue to provide income as the bottom level sales people sell products. A pyramid scheme will end, with all but the original members loosing money. Pyramid schemes are illegal and must be avoided.

A variation on the pyramid scheme is a "free to sell" e-book. You purchase an e-book (usually of very low quality). With the purchase is the right to resell any number of copies of the book. So you purchase a book for $50 and then sell books from your web site. Your customers will then do the same. This is the same problem as the pyramid scheme, sooner or later you run out of suckers (or there are so many other sellers of the book that no one buys from you).

Ask: "Why will they pay me so much?"

One reliable method of spotting a scam is to ask the question: "Why will they pay me so much?" If you see a scheme in which you stuff envelopes for an income that amounts to $20 per hour, you should ask why someone would pay that much for a job that can be handled by a minimum wage worker or even a machine. I have seen ads for books that will teach anyone how to be an advertising copywriter, claiming that it is possible to make $10,000 to write one letter. Is this real? Stop and think how long it would take to write one good sales letter. Perhaps one week? Probably less. Then check the listings on-line for advertising copywriter to see how much professionals. Is anyone paying experienced copywriters $10,000 per week. I doubt it.

In the earlier days of multi-layer marketing (MLM) the business models of certain companies that sold though direct needed sales people in every neighborhood. One way of getting them was MLM. The money the MLM sales people made was a percentage of what they sold. However, if the sales are going to be though the internet, why should the company pay a large sales force to participate?

One basic rule of economics is that no one will really pay you a large sum of money for work that they can have done much more cheaply though other means. You can make money, but you have to do it the old fashoned way: earn it. Read about how ->>
